History is full of famous and powerful music from within different cultures, with special songs for certain events, even today. This is something that brings strong memories and meaning to events in a way that is special.
Music in communities promotes a sense of belonging and connectedness that has the power to have a broad positive impact. The indigenous landowners of Australia sing stories for directions and geography: music has power, particularly for the memory.
We embrace this power of music in our lessons and promote the “appreciation and mindful listening of music” as well as “feeling the rhythm”.
